School of Information and Communication Technology

Welcome to the School of Information and Communication Technology, we are dedicated to the highest standards of education, research and community outreach in the area of Computer Science and Information Technology.  Our School offers courses that are tailored to meet the job market demand and enhance efficiency in ICT process management. Delivery of the programs includes lectures, hands-on labs, educational trips and internships all aimed at producing graduates who are well rounded, highly skilled and exposed to the latest trends in Computer Science.

MISSION
To be a center of excellence in research and human resource development in the areas of Information and Communication Technology.

VISION
To meet the educational needs of the community, industry and academia in the areas of computing and information technologies by providing an outstanding environment for learning, research in applications of computing, expanding educational and research programmes in response to the rapid changes in the field of Information Technology to transform lives.

OBJECTIVES

    To equip trainees with skills aimed at developing IT for specific problems and provide students with opportunities for involvement in IT problem solving and innovation in industries.
    To provide curricula that facilitate student-centered and laboratory-based learning of information technologies that are relevant to their lives and careers, valuable in terms of content and competencies, and connected to the needs of industry.
    To provide students with the skills needed to operate effectively within a professional environment, and make students aware of professional issues that might arise in such an environment.
    To give students the ability to assimilate new technologies quickly, as further training will be necessary throughout an individual’s working life.

    Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.
    Department of Telecommunication and Information Technology.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Mathematics and Physics/Physical Science or two Principal passes, one of which must be in Mathematics/Physics, and at least a subsidiary pass and a credit pass in Physics at ‘O’ level OR Holders of Ordinary Diploma in Computer Studies/Science or its equivalent with a credit pass from an institution recognized by the University Senate.

Bachelor in Information Technology
KCSE mean grade C+(Plus) with at least C(Plain) in Mathematics, English and Physics /Physical Sciences OR Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science/Studies or any relevant Diploma recognized by the University Senate.

Diploma in Computer Science
KCSE mean grade C (Plain), in addition candidates must have obtained a minimum of C-(Minus) in Mathematics and Physics / Physical Sciences OR a Diploma or its equivalent from an institution recognized by the University Senate.
